DEBdict offers straightforward usage of various Czech dictionaries. In addition it allows you to access Czech morphological analyzer (Ajka) and Czech WordNet. It works online and it's hosted at here.

Idiomatic and phrasal dictionary (SČFI, split to verbal and nonverbal part)

It’s possible to show results from particular dictionaries or from all these dictionaries at the same time as well.

Also available:

  • Czech morphological analyzer (Ajka)
    • each entry includes grammatical categories and all forms of the word
  • Czech WordNet
    • displays relations between words on the level of significance; DEBDict is the easiest way to get into the Czech WordNet

Furthermore DEBDict includes other dictionaries, which aren’t commonly available for public.

For access to DEBDict you should log in first.


There are two available ways how to log in:

  • demo account – username: demo, password: demo
    • does not allow you to work with all available dictionaries
  • full access
    • fill out the form
    • print it out, sign it and send it to the NLP laboratory address (e-mail with attachment is acceptable)
    • soon after that you will receive an e-mail with the login credentials

  1. Type your search in one of these forms:
    • word – searches all words beginning with “word”.
    • !word – searches for an exact match with the entered word.
    • -word – searches all words ending with “word”.
  2. Choose a dictionary (or all dictionaries).
